Remembering Julie Chen

"Dreaming", A Poem
Kevin Chen - High school youth group friend

It's the morning after Julie's memorial service. I woke up suddenly at 5am and wrote this (it's 6am now):

"Dreaming"
It was like old times.
We were hanging out -- you, me, my family
Going somewhere, didn't matter where
Chatting it up, just as we used to,
Though not as much recently.

You smiled and said, "I was beginning to think that you didn't love me anymore."
I smiled too, and replied, "Oh, Julie, you know I still love you."
And you smiled back, and believed me.

Was it just a dream?
In the darkness, I hear your voice,
"It's never goodbye. It's see you later."

You're right, Julie.
It wasn't just a dream, it's the truth.
See you later, see you soon.
